The Big Book on How to Fix Things
I've often been quoted as saying "everything is fixable"... and I truly believe that. Throughout my model horse career, I've have yet to find a horse too far gone, regardless of what has happened. Restoring these horses, although not always easy, has been one of the greatest joys for me in this hobby; as I have the opportunity to repair a treasure that someone thought was lost forever. I want to share these techniques with others, so that they too can fix their beloved horses, regardless of what has happened.

Coming in July, hopefully in time for Bfest:

"The Big Book on How to Fix Things: The comprehensive guide to troubleshooting, repairing, and restoring any model horse... in any condition"

This first volume will be +/- 100 pages, with LOTS of photos, and full color covers. It will be spiral bound so that it will lay flat for you to have in front of you when you are working on projects. The Big Book will also come with a DVD featuring the destruction and restoration of a resin from start to finish.

The Big Book is $50 ppd, and pre-orders are now being taken! The book will be ready to ship in July if all goes as planned. :-D There is a good liklihood that I will have copies at Bfest, so if you'd like to pick up a copy there, please let me know so I can make sure to have one for you.

TO ORDER: please email me. Paypal, MO, and checks are all accepted!

This book includes:

Pre-Paint Troubleshooting:

Common issues with prepping, primer, and finishes and why they happen

2. Preparing your horse for prepping so that nothing weird happens later on

3. The joys of swiss cheese horses: resins full of holes/bad castings and how to fix them

4. "Oh god... that doesn't look like hair at all" (sculpting realistic manes/tails, and how to remove them (and other epoxy fixes) if they aren't what you expected)

5. "Oh no... THAT wasn't there before!" (fixing cracks, epoxy lifting, and other epoxy isssues)

6. "So I tried to strip this horse and then THIS happened" (common stripping issues and how to avoid/fix them)

8. Fixing rubs, scratches, and dings in various stages of prepping/painting

Fixing Finished Horses for both the Artist and Collector
Common issues with finished horses, and how to fix them while preserving the finishwork

1. The Big Question: When to send a horse back to the artist, and when you probably can fix it yourself

2. "So I sprayed finish on my horse and the paint did THIS" (common issues with paint vs. primer vs. finish sprays)

3. Fuzzy horses: how to remove lint and/or hair in the paint (both when its wet and dry)

4. Sticky horses-- finished resins who become tacky, why, and what to do about it (including the horrors of matte finish that you thought was cured but apparently wasn't)

5. "My favorite horse is LEAKING!" (fun fluids that will leak out of your resin and what to do about it)

6. First Aid: Fixing rubs, scratches and dings of varying severity after the horse is painted

7. Say No to Crack: fixing epoxy or resin cracks in finished horses without destroying the finish

and finally:

8. "So my horse fell off the table and smashed into a thousand bits..." (fixing legs, tails, ears, heads, and anything else than can fly off a horse)

For you OFers: Fixing Original Finish horses
Restoring OFs: making them LSQ again without compromising being OF

1. My personal philosophy on OF horses (a damaged OF horse CAN be restored if done correctly)

2. Fixing touch ups and rubs, both minor and major

3. Fixing legs, tails, and ears
